One Wellbeing has partnered with Talanoa Education to deliver this Pacific (Pacific Islander & Māori) Athlete Wellbeing discovery course. One Wellbeing recognises the influence that Pacific athletes have on all sports throughout Australia and New Zealand, and as such has partnered with Talanoa Education to deliver it's current research on Pacific sport.
Dr David Lakisa, of Samoan descent, completed his PhD on Pacific Sport and Diversity Management at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School. He also completed a Masters in International Sport Management at Southern Cross University (SCU) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). A former physical education secondary school teacher and inaugural Pacific Islander Coaching and Development officer at New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL), David has also been a sessional academic at Western Sydney University in the School of Education (2008 - 2016). In sum, David has been heavily involved in numerous sporting, education, government and community-based initiatives for Pacific Islanders and Māori in Australia and across the Pacific region for the past two decades.
